He's Taking After His Mother

Below you'll find proof that Matthew is in the full-blown mimic stage:

My purse, my $5 sunglasses, my battered and abused phone. To his father's horror, Matthew also has a purse that he likes to carry around from time to time and an old cell phone that he likes to carry with him.But I think that Matthew is just trying to copy those around him because he's so little in our grown up world, and he wants to be grown up, too.

This morning, Matthew started stripping his PJs off in the living room and then went upstairs to retrieve play clothes. When he came downstairs, he had one of Brandon's shirts, Brandon's swim suit, two mismatched socks and his own sandals. So we put the clothes on him and let him play. (Actually, the swim suit fit him around the waist. Later, we noticed that Matthew's calves are bigger than Brandon's. Matthew's not letting the 7-year age difference get in the way of catching up to his big brother!) He thought he was so big!

Another amazing milestone: Matthew can operate the remote control to surf channels until he finds a cartoon he wants to watch. Today, we were watching Animal Planet. Chris and I stepped out of the room to check on lunch and returned to find Disney on. Kids are amazing.

Just like Aunt Leslie! When she was about 3 years old, she would slip into your closet and pick something of yours to wear to pre-K. I usually became aware of it during classtime (being one of her teachers), when to my horror, the selected item would begin to fall out from under her clothes. Being a mom is such fun.
