(Brandon is doing his spelling homework. He has to look up the word "referred" in the dictionary. I'm making him do it the old fashioned way, in an actual dictionary.)
Brandon: Mom, how do you spell 'refer'? The dictionary misspelled it - they have 'r-e-e-f-e-r.'
Me: Um, that's not the right word, Brandon, try again. AND don't write down that definition, please!

His Aunt Leslie did not know that word until I was an adult. I lived a sheltered life I guess.
Yes, and his Mom's still sheltered friend from AL didn't know what it meant, and had to look it up! HA!
