Weekend Update

We had a pretty laid back, yet productive weekend. Saturday we drove out to the far reaches of west county to look at a dog. Yes, I know. A dog. We are considering adding a dog to our family, but we want to find a really good one that 1) is gentle with the children, 2) is effective as a watch dog, 3) doesn't shed continuously, 4) gets along well with Moose, 5) is already house trained, 6) can order pizza and/or have dinner ready at 5:30 every night. I guess the first five are the most important. Matthew didn't really bond with the dog we visited, but he did become enraptured with the displays of ferrets, rabbits, mice and hamsters. We will NOT be adding a rodent to the family any time soon.

Sunday morning I woke up to discover that since I hadn't done any laundry on Saturday, we were all searching for clean, appropriate clothes to wear to church. So after church, the rest of Sunday was spent doing load after load after load of laundry. (We all found clean, appropriate clothes to wear to church, but I did notice in the middle of services that I was wearing two different black socks. Oh well.)

We also cleaned out the boys' playroom and bagged up toys that Matthew had outgrown. We organized the toys and put them together: all the toy medical supplies in one spot; all the Lincoln logs in the same box; all the Thomas stuff together. It is amazing how many little parts there are to all these toys and how fast they find their way down to the bottom of the toy box. I also found a gift card I had been looking for and a funnel from the kitchen in the bottom of the toy box.

Today there's some championship football game or something going on . . . oh, right! It's the Gators v. the Buckeyes in the BCS championship game. I was trying to explain what a buckeye was to Brandon, then discovered that I really didn't know what a buckeye is. I thought it might be some kind of wheat . . . maybe some kind of grass . . . I don't really know. Wikipedia says it's a tree. So, it's the Gators v. the trees. I prefer the candy buckeyes: you know, the peanut butter stuff dipped in milk chocolate. I should have made some for tonight!

Anyway, when we got home tonight, Matthew immediately injured himself by pinching his hand in our closet door. There was much screaming. After I got him calmed down, I applied ice, kissed his forehead and cuddled him. He jumped up so fast, I accidentally scratched his forehead with my fingernail. He grabbed his head and said, "Another injury!" Then he smiled and ran off. I guess he's going to be OK.
