I'm a Pushover

I had a job interview today (2 actually) in downtown St. Louis. And it just so happens that the Cardinals are playing the Cubs today, which is a big deal to Cardinal fans for some reason, unknown to me. Something about Chicago, I don't know.

Anyway, a guy approached me on the street asking for money so that he could eat. I gave him some spare change out of my pocket. He said, "God bless you, thank you," and he walked off. I then realized he was wearing a Cardinals jersey and there's a game tonight. I think I contributed to the price of a ticket or maybe a hot dog. I hope the guy ate something; my spare change is not going to get him much these days.

Speaking of spare change, please consider donating to the many charities helping victims of the hurricane. There are many sites up and running for the victims, or call the Red Cross directly. Your local churches may have ways to assist the victims as well. Our church family raised over $12,000 on Sunday and have sent it, along with boxes and boxes of supplies to a church in Jackson, MS, which is acting as a distribution center.
