Just a short post to let you know we're still here: Brandon went to the dentist on Thursday for what we thought would be a crown on one of his back molars. Instead, he got a rather large filling and the news that he will eventually need a root canal. Yikes! Poor kid. He goes back this Thursday for some more work/sealants. Hopefully the news will be better on the other side of his mouth.
Matthew's black eye only got worse, due to an incident on Friday where Brandon punched him in the eye. It was an accident, actually, Matthew ran into Brandon's fist (I know, you're rolling your eyes) but I did witness it and it was a complete accident. Luckily for Brandon, I saw the whole thing. Matthew's eye is much better today.
The NRA convention was in town this weekend, and believe me, I couldn't get out of downtown fast enough on Friday. There were NRA-type people everywhere, carrying Ruger bags and wearing their huntin' caps. Alright, that's stereotypical, but they were carrying Ruger bags.
Speaking of stereotypical, all attorneys at our firm had to go to a harassment prevention seminar this week. You'd think that attorneys would be sensitive to workplace harassment, but you'd be very, very wrong. Attorneys are some of the worst culprits of workplace harassment, even though most of us have taken Constitutional Law and/or lived through the civil rights movement. And just FYI, in St. Louis, you can't discriminate based on marital status and sexual orientation as well as all the Federal stuff: age, religion, sex, national origin, ethnicity, disability, color, race and probably some other stuff I can't remember right now because it's late.
Anyway, we decided we could discuss the following stereotypes of people without violating a protected class: under-40 year old blonde people, stupid people (unless their stupidity is due to a disability, then they'd fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act - so we better find out if they have any disabilities first), and people with a Southern accent (but no foreign/ethnic accents).
So I can probably make fun of the NRA convention-goers, because gun ownership is not a protected class. Yet.
