I've been spending the evening cultivating my Napster playlist. I've added some Five for Fighting, Goo Goo Dolls, Rob Thomas, Sting . . . and I've been looking up lyrics to some of my favorite songs, because only a few years ago, I figured out what the song "Come On Eileen" was really saying, and if my parents knew what I was listening to back in the '80s, they'd have a fit. Luckily, the lyrics didn't register with me back in the preteen years. I was super naive. Really.
I guess I've reached the age where I want to be responsible and actually know what the music means, especially now that Brandon is asking for certain songs and wanting to download his own music. Brandon did ask for a download of a song that we absolutely objected to, after we saw the lyrics. For him, I'm sticking with Kids Bop stuff, because that seems pretty safe. And, we've already warped his musical style with some Earth, Wind and Fire, Tom Jones and the Eagles. Poor kid.
