We recently had Brandon's eyes checked. The good news is, he has excellent eyesight, which is a miracle considering the genetics of his parents, who both have worn glasses/contacts since at least junior high.
The bad news is, he has oculomotor dysfunction. Sounds bad, but its just that his eyes don't follow moving objects accurately, or more importantly, he has trouble with looking from his book to the board and back to his book. He can't find his place in the book easily, and when he reads he loses his place often. The doctor said that with some vision therapy, this should resolve itself.
So we're going to check into the vision therapy thing and see if that can help out his reading. I knew one day we'd be paying for therapy, but I didn't know it would be vision therapy. Go figure.
P.S. I take back my bemoaning about the lack of my favorite TV show, House, IF the Cardinals make it to the World Series. Otherwise, I will be complaining every Tuesday night until November that I can't watch House. You've been warned.

Brandon's aunt Leslie had the same problem. She over came it with some visual therapy and now has no problem reading.
