Blue's Sad Demise

Once upon a time, Brandon loved all things Blue. Blue's Clues, that is. He had Blue's Clues bedding, clothes, toys, videos and furniture. We had lots of stuffed Blue's Clues dogs around the house.

Fortunately for us, Brandon grew out of that stage, so we were able to either box up or give away a lot of the ol' Blue's Clues stuff. Some of it is still hanging around, though. We found one when we moved and gave it to Matthew. It was a bathtime Blue. Like this:

Matthew has played with it and carried it around the house for the past few weeks. A few days ago, he found some baby powder and powdered her up. I vacuumed her off, which he thought was really cool.

We called it "Bathtime Blue," but I didn't actually let him play with it in the bathtub because then it would be wet and I'd have to hang it in the shower to dry, and he'd want to take it to bed with him, but he couldn't because it would be wet and I'd have to take a shower with a wet blue dog hanging on the soap rack. Which wasn't very cool.

Anyway, today I found Blue face down in the toilet. Yes, bathtime Blue met her untimely demise in the upstairs commode. It was unfortunate, yes. But I'm oh so glad that Matthew didn't try to flush her. I think he just wanted to bathe her. I thought about taking a picture of it to post on the blog, but I didn't want to be too graphic. You know, crime scene photos can get pretty disturbing. So here's a G-rated re-enactment:

So sad. We should have just called her "Blue" instead of "Bathtime Blue." Lucky for us that they didn't make "Demolition Expert Blue," "Paper Shredding Blue" or "Runaway Blue." Who knows what would happen then. Whew!
