Scene: Brandon is showing the accompaning illustrations to a story he's written and about to read to his parents. It is past his bedtime, and he is a professional staller when it comes to delaying the inevitable. Mom, sensing a delaying tactic, responds:
Mom: Brandon, you need to get a move on, make with the story already.
Brandon: Mom, please. You can't rush art!

I seem to remember a little girl using the very same tactics -- only it was "read me another book. I can't go to sleep"-- at about age 2. I guess it's pay back time.

Ah, yes, now I remember . . . I'm having vague memories of Montgomery circa 1976 (maybe) and not wanting to go to sleep, so I was bribed with candy and . . . possibly hair barettes or brushes . . . to go to sleep.
